2. Buy The CDA Competency Standards Book, Build Your Professional Portfolio, Fill Out Your Application, Scholarships
Once your course work is complete you will begin to build your Professional Portfolio. Our course actually helps you build yours, so we suggest buying the $25 CDA Competency Standards Book from the Council for Professional Recognition website early on. The book contains all the information/steps required for applying. Your next step will be filling out your application with the council. Online applications are $425 and paper is $500. This is where the state specific grants/scholarships kick in. The council has a web page setup specifically to help you find state funds to pay for your CDA costs. 3. Identify A Local CDA Professional Development Specialist That Matches Your Requirements & Apply/Pay Fees
During the application process, you will pick out a local CDA Professional Development Specialist from the Council's online directory. Once you pick one you will pay your application fees to the Council for Professional Recognition. Your PD specialist will setup an appointment up with you to observe you working with children. They will also review your Professional Portfolio and facilitate a reflective dialogue with you. After the CDA Application process is complete, you will then setup a testing date and take your Child Development Associate credential test. The testing site will be a Pearson Vue Testing Center near you. You will finally be able to shine knowing all your hard work will pay off!

Child Care Competency Standards
The Competency book & Essentials book are a requirement. It is to be purchased through the Council's website. Per the council website, It will include the credentialing process, the CDA Competency Standards and all of the forms a candidate will use, including an application, Family Questionnaires, and the official Comprehensive Scoring Instrument (the Observation Tool). Council for Professional Recognition's Application & Testing Process
We only handle the CDA training portion of your CDA credentials. Once your training with us is complete you will apply with The Council for Professional Recognition. Their online application cost (which includes testing) is $425 and $500 for a paper application. These cost can add up! Luckily, there are state grants/scholarship funding to help you pay for your application/testing costs. Council for Professional Recognition's CDA Renewal & Amnesty
